Nature provides serenity, peace, and calm. Humans feel an undeniable sense of tranquillity when surrounded by nature, so why not bring that into your home? Whether you’re now working from home or just spending more time at home than usual, the visual, psychological, and health benefits of plants are worth investing in!

1. Breathe cleaner air.

Humans breathe in oxygen and release carbon dioxide. Plants do the opposite, making plants and people a perfect pair. Refresh the air around you by adding plants to your interior spaces; plants are much better at keeping the air clean than any man-made air-purifier. Make sure your plants are performing their best at this by keeping their leaves clean and allowing them to receive natural sunlight.

2. Enhance interior design.

Not only do plants brighten up your surroundings, they can also brighten your mood. Plants increase your connectivity to the natural environment and enhance the overall aesthetics of your home. An easy way to fill those empty corners in your home, plants create a sense of liveliness throughout.

3. Boost mental well-being.

Being close to nature has been linked to having positive mental health benefits. A study by National Chub Hsing University found that people were less nervous and anxious when they were around indoor plants or had a view of nature. Plants also have a sense of peace about them and help you feel less boxed in, especially if you don’t have a big garden in your backyard.

4. Improve focus and productivity.

A study by the University of Exeter found employee productivity increased by 15 per cent after plants were introduced to a previously bare office. Plants reduce stress and improve calmness and wellbeing, which in turn allow you to better focus and be more creative. If you’re currently working from home, plants can help to boost your drive throughout your work day, helping you get things done!

5. Grow herbs for cooking.

Growing herbs in your kitchen can improve the overall aesthetic of the space, as well as enhance your cooking! Herbs like chives, mint, parsley and basil are easy to grow indoors, and many of us use them in our cooking regularly – a win-win! Grow herbs like mint to help with digestion, parsley to support bone health, and basil to boost immunity.

6. Feel a sense of accomplishment.

Caring for and nurturing plants can have remarkable effects on one’s quality of life. There are certain feelings of accomplishment and companionship that come with taking care of plants. So, start your journey to becoming a plant-parent, and feel proud of your achievements!
