After almost 30 years as a Building and Design Consultant at Webb & Brown-Neaves, Kim Gartrell is without a doubt one of the best-known personalities in the business. In his 30th year at ABN Group’s premium flagship brand, Kim is one of the most experienced members of the team, having helped almost 700 families build their dream home.

Kim knew he wanted to work in sales from the very beginning. “I left school at age 15 and spent the first 10 years of my career with a premium building company,” he said.

“This is where I saw firsthand salespeople in action and I liked what I saw. I knew then that my future would be in sales.”Kim went on to work for several more building companies before pursuing employment with Webb & Brown-Neaves.

“I was looking for a job with a company that would provide security for me and my family. I knocked on the door at Webb & Brown-Neaves and asked them for a job.”

“That was in 1990. Thank you to my wife who suggested WB to me all those years ago.”

When asked why he has stayed with Webb & Brown-Neaves for all these years, Kim declared security and the opportunity to work with the best.

“Webb & Brown-Neaves provided me with the job security that I needed,” he said. “I have now been able to refine my craft and learn from the best and in turn I have used that knowledge to help nearly 700 families build their dream home.”

Just like the dream homes he brings to life for many of Perth’s families, Kim is in it for the long haul. Being the longest-standing Building and Design Consultant in the Webb & Brown-Neaves team, Kim knows the role back to front.

“Every day I am active in all areas of the job from meeting new clients to touching base with those who are already on their building journey.”

“Something I love about my job is that I am able to work with the entire team at Webb & Brown-Neaves.

Building a WB home for our clients means that I have the privilege of working with the whole team, whether it’s liaising with the Design Team, Pre-Start or Construction. It’s incredibly collaborative which is why working at Webb & Brown-Neaves has been a perfect fit for me.”

“I’ve loved turning up to work each day helping deliver the dream of home ownership to many. Much has changed for me personally over my time here but one thing that’s never wavered is my passion for helping people build happy lives.”

  1. Kim’s tips for your next build: 1. It’s never too early to engage with a builder and start asking questions. 2. An early check on finance is a must as this will determine your eligibility to borrow and help you to set a clear budget with your builder. 3. Seek a builder’s opinion before purchasing a block. 4. Be clear about your requirements when it comes to your home design, and make sure your builder understands. 5. Research your chosen builder thoroughly before making a decision. 6. Progress with purpose, but don’t rush. 7. Introduce yourself and start talking to your new neighbours early on, as they may be required to comment on your Planning Application if you are seeking a variation. 8. Who will be your Trusted Advisor? Get this right and the journey ahead is sure to be a good one.
